Started by Patti Plascak Willey in April of 2000, The Terre Haute Academy
of Dance is devoted to allowing dancers of all ages discover the joy of dance.

At the Academy of Dance, all forms of dance are taught as art education and personal training in coordination, health and confidence. Dance is a wonderful art form and I encourage people of all ages and abilities to experience the joy of dance as an expressive art.

My goal is to cultivate the student's natural creativity, provide sound technical training and make learning enjoyable. It is important that a person's first experience with dance be positive and lasting. I believe in nurturing creativity in the classroom that will bloom throughout the individual's life. I take a "hands-on" approach to teaching technique, and I strongly encourage my students to think, learn, recall, create and solve problems. I firmly but gently nudge my students toward a sense of professionalism, self-discipline, and self-worth with a respect for themselves and others.

I believe every student deserves the best quality dance training available, whether or not they pursue a career in the dance arts. To protect the dancers from injury the studio features a sprung floor, and class sizes are limited to ensure personal attention. My instruction is customized to each student's goals, whether it be fun and fitness or pre-professional training.
